Mental Health in Albanian Communities: A Narrative Review of Culture, History, and Trauma
This narrative review examines how cultural norms, historical oppression, and intergenerational trauma influence mental health outcomes in Albanian communities—both in Albania and among the diaspora. It highlights the need for culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care and offers insight into how the past continues to shape present-day experiences. We also examine the relevance to the Albanian-Canadian community.
