Research Associate

Dr. Adile Nexha is a Research Associate at the Albanian-Canadian Mental Health Centre (ACMH), where she contributes to ongoing projects that explore how cultural identity, gender, and intergenerational trauma impact mental health across the Albanian diaspora. Her work supports ACMH’s broader mission to integrate clinical care, education, and culturally grounded research.

She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University and the Women's Mental Health and Depression Unit at Homewood Research Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Benicio Frey. Her research focuses on women's mental health, specifically hormonal sensitivity across reproductive phases, building on her PhD work in Major Depressive Disorder through the lens of chronobiology and circadian rhythms.

Dr. Nexha’s will soon begin a Master’s in Psychotherapy at McMaster University, with the goal of integrating trauma-informed clinical practice with her research. Her commitment to serving marginalized and underrepresented communities aligns deeply with ACMH’s vision of advancing accessible, culturally sensitive mental health care.
